Quantum Network and Interconnect

Quantum networks enable a wide range of applications including building a secure quantum internet for quantum communications and distributed quantum computing. The realization of quantum networks compose of many physically separated quantum nodes and low-loss quantum channels (e.g. telecommunication fibers) connecting them. To overcome the challenge of low photon transmission across lossy channels, we utilize the solid-state spin qubits with telecom optical interfaces to minimize the fiber transmission loss (0.2 dB/km at telecom wavelengths). Leveraging the compatibility with the silicon photonic platform, our group implements multiplexed on-chip quantum nodes and develops novel communication protocols to improve quantum repeater performance and enhance the entanglement generation rate, towards realization of long-range scalable quantum networks.
